ROBOT Spirits Evangelion Unit 01 New Movie Package

ROBOT

Let’s start with the packaging. Since this is a renewed Evangelion, the packaging is special.

There is a small window on the back, from which you can see the Eva Unit 01 itself.

This is in blister pack state.

ROBOT Spirits Evangelion Unit 01 New Movie Edition Main Unit

Let’s take it out right away and start reviewing ROBOT SPIRITS Evangelion Unit-01 New Movie Edition.

All the way around. It’s a style that’s closer to the Evangelion Unit 01 that appears in the movie. The main features are narrow shoulders, a large head, and small shoulder armor. The purple coloring is relatively dark. The fluorescent green makes it look very colorful.

A close-up of the bust. The Eva Unit 01 is of pretty good quality. The head design is surprisingly different when recreated in 3D, but Bandai has done it countless times, so this is truly a godly creation. The eyes and chin are painted metallic. The red lines around the eyes are also carved into the mold, and then painted over.

The corners are hard parts, so be careful not to damage them.

The mouth can be opened wide, and the inside of the mouth is also painted a vibrant red color.

The chest armor looks like this, and the grey parts are painted gunmetal, which is nice. There is also a red dot pattern painted on.

The back looks like this. There is also a hole for the umbilical cable.

The waist is still slim like the Eva body type. The center is green color as per the setting.

The grey part on the back is also painted gunmetal.

Apparently it’s not possible to open the entry plug.

The arms are recreated to have a long and slender style.

The shoulder armor you have is smaller than the one you have. There is no marking on the shoulder on the arm side, but the coloring is reproduced.

It’s also long below the elbow.

The legs are well balanced and the mechanical armor is nice.

The hip joint area looks like this. The thigh armor might be interfering.

The curves in her thighs also look great.

This is what the shins look like.

The knee armor is also painted differently.

Black dots are also painted onto the ankle armor, which can be moved along with the ankle movement.

The soles of the feet are also painted.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen ROBOT Spirits, so I’ll compare them with recent figures. On the left is Kamen Rider Saber from SH Figuarts, and on the right is Iron Man Mark 85 from SH Figuarts. As expected, Eva Unit 01 is the tallest. Well, it’s definitely a rare combination.

Let’s compare it with the RG Evangelion Unit 01. The RG is taller. The size of the face and shoulder armor are also quite different. The RG is more mechanically arranged, so you can see how much it has changed from the Unit 01 in the movie.

ROBOT Spirits Evangelion Unit 01 New Movie Edition Accessories List

Next, let’s take a look at the accessories for the ROBOT Spirits Evangelion Unit 01. This is a standard gripping wrist part. It comes with left and right.

This is the hand-sword wrist part. The knuckles are incredibly realistic.

Wide open wrist parts. These are also included for the left and right.

These are the hand parts for holding the weapon. They come in left and right.

And the wrist parts used to tear apart the AT field. These also come with one for each hand.

A progressive knife is also included. The blade is painted gunmetal, which is also good.

It also comes with a replacement part that allows you to recreate the scene of removing the knife from the shoulder.

It can be attached like this.

This is Palette Life. The colors are pretty simple, and the parts are simple too.

The familiar umbilical cable. It is connected by wires, allowing it to move flexibly.

This one is also painted, which is good.

This can also be attached to the hole in the Tamashii Stage.

This is what it looks like when you actually attach the umbilical cable.

This is the AT field. It’s reproduced with a fairly large sheet.

There is a hole in the center, and the colors are arranged in a gradation.

Sorry it’s hard to see, but the AT field base is also included. It has a special design that combines hexagonal shapes.

It’s about this size compared to the Eva Unit 01.

This is a spare corner part.

And attachment parts that can be used with humanoids in the Tamashii Stage.

Robot Spirits Evangelion Unit 01 New Movie Version Movable Range

Next, let’s look at the range of motion of the Eva Unit 01. The neck can rotate widely, and the shoulders can also move widely.

The hips can also move forward and backward over a wide range.

The rotation of the hips is also perfect.

The legs can be spread wide and the ground contact is fairly versatile.

ROBOT Spirits Evangelion Unit-01 New Movie Action!

We have also reviewed it on YouTube, so please check it out!

So, let’s take a look at the action of the revamped ROBOT Spirits Evangelion Unit-01.

Actually, it’s been a long time since I last bought a completed Evangelion Unit-01 figure. Probably since I was a child when it was broadcast on TV.

Since I had a strong image of it being a plastic model, this felt quite refreshing.

She also has a slightly hunched back.

It’s also interesting that the umbilical cable serves as the arm of the base.

Sprinting with a pallet rifle.

It wasn’t difficult to give them weapons either.

Kneeling pose is also possible.

It’s also fun to recreate fighting styles other than rampaging.

It might be fun if there were effect parts.

I want a diorama of Tokyo-3.

There is also a pose where he takes out the progressive knife.

I don’t think I’ve had many opportunities to use a knife.

I want a Shamsiel figure.

The jumping pose is also pretty cool.

It can also pose in a crouching starting position before sprinting. This is possible thanks to the range of motion.

And then he runs. The chopping wrist part is so memorable that I can only imagine it in this pose.

AT field fully activated!!

It is also possible to make normal action poses.

And then it went out of control.

Unit 01 roars.

The berserk form of Unit 01 is now running wild.

The rampage form is definitely fun.

I also tried the crawling pose that was featured in the fight against Zeruel in the TV version.

The sight of Unit 01 leaping at you in its rampaging form is extremely frightening.

Tearing apart the AT field.

It now seems to be attached to every Unit 01 figure.

I put Sachiel from the Real Model Series that was released at the time. It has a fun atmosphere.

From Sachiel’s perspective. Scary.

I want more action figures of the angels. Soft vinyl figures are fine too though.

Sachiel is large in size, so it might be a bit difficult to match it with ROBOT Spirits Unit 01.

Unit 01 stomps away.

So that concludes my review of ROBOT Spirits Evangelion Unit-01 New Movie Edition.

This is a renewed Eva, but I don’t have the previous one so I couldn’t compare it, but there’s no doubt that it’s a good Eva. The modeling was a good three-dimensional reproduction of the unique style of the new movie version. This one was faithful and looked pretty good. The coloring was also perfect, with no paint spilling over, and the metallic and gunmetal paint separations were perfect. And the mobility was just monstrous. It was amazing how well it moved, and it was very easy to play with. With RG and other models, you had to be careful about it falling off when posing, but with ROBOT Spirits you can play with it without having to worry about that at all, which is a great item. The accessories are at a minimum level, with weapons, wrists, AT fields, etc., so you can enjoy most of the action in the movie. All that’s left is the Spear of Cassius, which was used in the trailer for “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time”!
