MG 1/100 Crossbone Gundam X1 (Patchwork) Ver.Ka Review

This time, we will be reviewing

the MG 1/100 Crossbone Gundam X1 (Patchwork) Ver.Ka !

MG Crossbone Gundam X1 (Patchwork) Ver.Ka is a 1/100 scale model kit of the MS “Crossbone Gundam X1 (Patchwork)” Ver.Ka from “Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: The Seven Stars of Steel”. Patchwork’s distinctive coloring and aircraft shape are reproduced with molded colors. The kit comes with water transfer decals featuring the distinctive hook shield and new emblem mark. The price is 4,950 yen (tax included). This product is limited to Premium Bandai.

The X1 Kai Kai, which was moderately damaged in the battle against Cornigus on the moon, was repaired and improved with spare parts from the X3, and the Crossbone Gundam X1 Patchwork has been made into an MG Ver.Ka kit. Based on the MG Crossbone Gundam X1 Ver.Ka released in September 2006 , parts from the MG Crossbone Gundam X3 Ver.Ka are used in various parts to recreate the distinctive coloring and shape of the Patchwork.

The molding color of the head, arms, and lower body is white-based, but the torso and left shoulder are blue like the X3, and the right shoulder and head are dark blue like the X1. The antennae and air intakes are yellow, and the forearms and soles are red, recreating the distinctive patchwork coloring. Stickers are used to supplement the ◯ molds on the head and shoulders, but there aren’t many of them. Some parts require painting, but the color separation is reproduced sufficiently even without assembly.

Only a few parts, such as the Core Fighter canopy, are undergate specifications.

The internal and joint parts of the X1 were made of dark gray ABS, but this patchwork version has been changed to gray KPS (ABS is used where strength is required). The back is equipped with a bone cross-like back thruster unit, but the weight on the rear side is small, so it does not affect the model’s ability to stand on its own.

To assemble the kit, we use “smoothly cutting single-edged nippers.” (One cut.) Not only is it sharp, but the blade is thin, but it is strong and long-lasting.  ⇒Smoothly cutting single-edged nippers

Includes buster gun, beam zanbar (with beam blade), two beam saber blades, hook shield, flat hands (left and right) for I-field generator, two chain parts for scissor anchors, two drill tip parts for screw webs, two heat dagger blades, three lead wires, joint parts for display, and a Tobia Aronax figure.

ABC mantle is included.

Special water transfer decals are included.

In addition, many surplus parts for X1 (MG Gundam F91 Ver.1.0) and X3 are included. Since a full set of parts for X1 and X3 are included, you can recreate X1 and X3 (Muramasa Buster not included) by rearranging them. Other color variation parts are included, so you can recreate the original coloring by rearranging them.

Head. The skull relief on the forehead is impressive. The shape of the X1 is reflected as it is, with the area around the relief also reproduced in dark blue. The line moldings on the left and right sides, which are unique to Crossbone Gundam, need to be painted red.

The twin eyes are color-coded with stickers on clear parts. The sensor on the back of the head is color-coded with a green sticker on a gray part. The helmet is a clamp-type, but the seam on the back of the head is molded in a stepped pattern.

The mask can be deployed and raised to recreate the heat dissipation state.

Torso. The chest is the same as the X3. The skull relief on the chest is impressive. The skull relief mold needs to be painted black. The side armor is the same dark blue as the X1.

The hook used to put on the cloak can be deployed. The base is color-coded with a blue sticker. The surface armor can be deployed to expose the cockpit of the inner core fighter.

The Core Fighter can be separated by pulling it out from the fuselage. The nose is folded and the rear thruster unit is deployed in a cross shape and stored in the fuselage.

The core fighter is the same as the X1, with the nose and main body molded in dark blue. However, the figure inside the cockpit is molded in white, making it easier to paint. The ducts on the left and right sides of the cockpit and the ducts of the propulsion unit are color-coded with yellow stickers.

The canopy can be opened and closed.

The X1 Core Fighter (right) is lined up next to it. It’s almost the same, but the dark gray parts have been changed to gray molding color.

Joint parts for display are included, allowing you to recreate flight scenes with the Core Fighter on its own.

When in high-speed cruising mode, the thruster units are closed to concentrate thrust.

The thruster unit at the rear can move freely, which is nice as it gives the Core Fighter some expression.

The front armor can be deployed for scissor anchors.

The grip on the rear armor can be detached for use with screw webs. Use it by assembling the lead wire and the drill part at the tip.

The back of the waist armor is sculpted with various backing parts and moldings.

Arms. The right shoulder armor is the same as the X1, with a dark blue color scheme. The lower arms are the same as the X3, with an I-field generator on the forearm.

The arms are sculpted with a mechanical internal frame.

The upper arms are cylindrical and have no seams. The forearms are also made with a combination of cylindrical parts, so there are no seams. Each part has a detailed color scheme. The hand parts are movable, with the thumb, index finger, and the remaining three fingers.

The I-field generator on the forearm can be deployed. Inside are detailed molds such as ducts. Special hand parts are also included, allowing you to recreate the I-field generation scene.

The left shoulder armor is the same as the X3. It has a blue base coloring. Like the right shoulder, the front and back round molds are color-coded with yellow stickers. The hook on the top can be deployed to attach the cloak.

The legs are the same as the X1. The knees are also molded in dark blue. The knee ducts are colored yellow, but the inside needs to be painted gray. The thighs and lower legs are covered on both sides, but the seams are molded in a stepped pattern.

The legs also have an internal frame.

The heat dagger on the back of the calf can be removed, and a heat dagger blade can be attached.

The sole is the same as the Crossbone Gundam series, and the shape is the same as the others. The wings at the back can move up and down.

The soles of the feet are molded with backing parts. A heat dagger blade can be attached to the center. The toes can be bent slightly.

Dorsal thruster unit. The angle of the vernier at the tip can be changed.

When wearing the cape, fold it compactly and point it down.

Next to the MG Crossbone Gundam X1. As the name suggests, the patchwork model has different colorings in each part, like a patchwork.

The range of motion of each part is exactly the same as the X1, so please refer to the review of the MG Crossbone Gundam X1 Ver.Ka in the link below m(_ _)m

Buster gun. It is the same as the one that comes with the X1, and is designed to resemble an old pirate pistol. The sensor is color-coded with a green sticker on the clear part.

The top cover and grip are movable.

The grip is a left and right clamping type, so there is a seam in the center. If you want to remove it, you will need to refit it or use masking paint.

Beam Zamber. It is the same as the one that comes with the X1, and is a weapon shaped like a saber-like sword. The beam blade is already attached.

The base of the beam blade is movable so you can change its position. The knuckle guard is also movable so it doesn’t get in the way when you hold it.

Both the Buster Gun and Beam Zamber can be mounted on the side armor.

By combining the Buster Gun and Beam Zanbar, you can recreate the Zanbuster. The grenade bullets that fit into the muzzle are not modeled.

A newly constructed hook shield (anchor shield) made from patchwork. Its distinctive armament is a fishhook-like hook.

Each part is carefully color-coded, but as it is a top and bottom clamping type, there are seams on the sides.

By using the included lead wire, you can recreate the hook’s ejection state.

The hook shield is attached to cover the I-field generator on the forearm. It clicks into place, so you can pose it without it falling off.

Tobias Aronax figure. Same as the one that comes with the X3.

Armed to the max.

The Zanbuster tends to interfere with the forearm, so it is held at a slight angle. However, the arm is flexible, so it can be held with the muzzle pointed without any problems.

The weapons can be held to some extent by the dowels on the palm of the hand. However, the dowels are shallow and can easily come loose if you play with them, so be careful. The ABS has been replaced by KPS, but the holding power seems to be unchanged.

By attaching the lead wire, you can recreate the hook ejection state of the hook shield. The lead wire can be firmly inserted, so it can be kept in place without rotating. (Depending on the angle, it may rotate due to the weight.)

It comes with a variety of weapons, including beam sabers, scissor anchors, screw webs, and heat daggers, so you can pose it however you like, and recreate a variety of attack scenes.

There are so many weapons to choose from that it would take a long time to try them all out. But no matter which weapon you use, it looks cool, and the fact that you can keep enjoying it for so long is a real luxury.

In addition, an I-field hand is included, making it possible to recreate defensive scenes.

Put on the ABC cloak. The cloak is the same as the one on the X1. It is fixed with hooks on the chest and shoulders. With HG, once it gets wrinkled it cannot be fixed, but this one is made of nylon and is wrinkle-resistant, so it maintains a fluffy look, which is nice.

Even with the cape on, you can tell it’s patchwork because the coloring on each shoulder is different. By bringing the hook shield to the front, it gives off a more pirate vibe.

The cape is too tight and the cockpit hatch is easy to open, and the cape is easy to come off the hook that holds it in place, so it may be difficult to move the arms around. If you want to try out some flashy poses, you may need to increase the strength of the hook.

Please feel free to take a few.

The characteristic patchwork, twiggy haggling coloring is impressive. It does not look out of place when combined with the fuselage shape of the Crossbone Gundam, and I think it has a unique design that creates a pop atmosphere. The newly designed hook shield also has a more pirate-like appearance, and it is nice that it has features not found in other models, such as the ability to reproduce the hook ejection state.

The only thing that concerns me is that the holding strength of the weapon is weak, which can be said for all MG Crossbone Gundam Ver.Ka series, so I would like to see fixed hand parts soon. In addition, the cloak is easily detached from the fixed hooks, so if you want to move the cloak around, you will have to be careful not to detach it.

In addition to the abundant armament of X1, X3’s I-field generator (I-field hand) and other parts are also included, making the volume of the figure rather large. It is good that the kit allows for unlimited fun, such as being able to try a wide range of poses in a volume that is too large to play with fully.
