MG Gundam Origin Edition Review

This is a review of the MG Gundam Origin Edition.

The whole body. Since it’s the Origin version, it has a shoulder cannon on the left shoulder. Part of the forearm uses the 2.0 frame, but the rest is all new.

The face. It looks a little wide, but other than that it’s a typical Gundam face with no particularly outstanding features.

Since it’s an MG model, the Vulcans and ducts are color-coded. There is also an LED gimmick this time around, so the eyes can be made colorless and clear.

From below. Also, the one in the photo is attached on top of the clear case, but this time the red sticker for the main camera can also be attached behind the clear case.

Each part, etc. The Origin version has a unique armament of a Vulcan cannon and missiles on the chest, so the left and right are asymmetrical. This is the original version.

As usual, the cockpit hatch opens and closes. It opens wide so the pilot can get a clear view.

The Vulcan on the right can also be deployed.

Around the waist. There are no outstanding features in this area. This is based on the original early version, so there is no core block gimmick.

The arms and legs. The proportions and molding of the limbs were also normal.

The wrist is an emotion manipulator with five movable fingers.

The left arm is equipped with a Gatling gun.

The calf verniers can be deployed.

On his back. On the left side of the backpack is a shoulder cannon that was equipped for a certain period of time at the beginning.

The vernier nozzle can be moved back and forth.

The base of the shoulder cannon slides, so it can be pointed forward nicely. The base is a BJ, so it can be twisted slightly left and right.

There is no core block, so the hips have a wide swing range and the neck is flexible. The elbows and knees are double-jointed and can bend nearly 180 degrees.

The hip joint area is wide and mobile, and the toes rotate, so the ground contact is quite high.

The shoulders are also removable, and the covers on the torso and shoulder armor can be opened, allowing for a wide range of movement forward, backward, and upward. You can also hold a saber.

The waist can also move sideways.

option.

Pilot figure.

Stickers.

Fully equipped.

Beam rifle. Origin’s unique design. The scope and foregrip are movable.

It also comes with a beam rifle similar to the one used in the anime from the middle of the series onwards. This one also has a clear cover that allows you to attach stickers to it.

Both rifles can be mounted on the waist by pulling out the pin.

shield.

Back side. It is fixed at two points, the elbow and the grip. The grip part can slide.

The shutter can be opened and closed. Although the Origin has a strong image of being upside down, you can also hold it in the normal orientation by rotating the grip.

You can also rotate the central part of the backpack to mount it on your back. The holes are the same shape, so you can also attach it to your waist.

It is also possible to mount a beam rifle in two places on the back.

Hyper Bazooka. There is nothing special about this one. The grip is movable.

It can be mounted on the waist, just like the beam rifle.

The arm Gatling gun is also included for the right arm.

This time we’ve chosen the familiar yellow color seen in color illustrations, but a blue cover for the chest Vulcan is also included.

This time, it also comes with clear effect parts, which is a rare addition. Chest Vulcan, missiles,

It can be attached to the Gatling gun on the arm. The chest missiles have yellow warheads, so they look a bit off if not painted.

The backpack can also be converted into a normal saber type by replacing parts.

Even when the backpack is shaped like a saber and equipped with a lightweight rifle.

2.0, 3.0. The proportions and molding colors are different from previous versions. There are too many RX78s, so it seems difficult to decide on the final version.

Although it is the same Origin version, it has a different arrangement from the Metal Composite version.

Just a few at a time.

Shoulder cannon deployed. It has high grounding ability, so it can be firmly planted even with the hips lowered and the legs spread apart.

From behind too.

Beam rifle. The early model is larger than usual, so it looks even more impressive.

The shoulders move well, so you can easily hold it with both hands.

Hyper Bazooka.

Shoulder cannons and chest missiles are also fired simultaneously.

The chest Vulcan and missiles can be used at the same time. The bazooka can also be held in the arms.

Gatling gun arm. The effects are detailed, but they are all monochrome so they only look so-so.

Even if it’s just the arms. It would have been nice if they had one for the shoulder cannon.

The backpack can be replaced with a regular type and equipped with a beam saber.

Kneeling is no problem. The hips can also move sideways, so you can add movement with your hips.

A stomp slash used during the battle against the Black Tri-Stars.

I twisted my hips and thrusted. My toes also moved precisely, so it was very stable.

The shoulders are highly mobile, making it easy to hold with both hands.

Shooting a Newtype with a normal rifle. This time, the main body was the early version, so there may be a later version released later.

The waist can be bent back significantly, so the pose of breaking through the atmosphere can be created quite effectively, but the neck cannot move up that far.

The shoulders can be pulled upwards so there’s no problem with the final shooting pose. The angle of the crotch can also be made almost exactly like the original.

This is a review of the MG Gundam Origin version.

The MG Origin version was also released to coincide with the anime version of Origin, although it is not related to this RX78 since it is the Char Seira version that is being made.
The arrangement unique to the origin version, such as the shoulder cannon and chest vulcanizer, has been reproduced, and the proportions, molding, and molding colors are finished differently from the previous RX78, and since there is no core block for mobility, it is easy to move the waist and other parts. The RX78 has been made in a large number of variations, so it can be said to be perfect.
There have been many interpretations of the MG RX78 in the past, so just because it is the newest one does not mean that this one is the definitive version.
