This is a review of the HG Gundam Barbatos.

The entire body of the 4th form. The design features the head shape, shoulder form, exposed frame, etc. The details are stickers, but the color separation is excellent.

The face. The mask has two slits so you can tell it’s a Gundam at a glance, but the silhouette is quite unique.

It’s amazing how even the cheek ducts are color-coded in HG, but the grey of the mask and antenna isn’t reproduced even in the stickers.

From below too.

Each part, etc. Only the red line in the center of the torso is a sticker, the rest is color-coded. The waist frame is exposed and very thin.

Around the waist. The grey in the lower center and the red and grey on the side armor are stickers.

Arms and legs. The limbs are normal in thickness, but the shoulders are large, giving a powerful impression. Again, the red lines and grey are reproduced with stickers.

Back. There are two holes on the left and right for equipping weapons.

The thruster-like part in the center is movable.

The joints are PC002, which is common to all projects, and look decent when the shoulder armor is attached, but when you remove it the shoulders rise extremely high and the waist is flexible with BJ.

The elbows and knees were deeply bent, the legs were spread wide, and the ground contact was such that it could bend more than 90 degrees to the side. However, the rear armor was fixed.

Optional. Also included were Barbatos and the Tri-Age pilot cards.

A sword is attached to his back and he is holding a mace.

Mace. A striking weapon that is rare for a Gundam’s basic weapon. There are no special gimmicks.

A sword. This was also a real sword, and there was no beam saber or anything like that.

Both can be mounted on the back using joints.

Also included is a joint that is compatible with the optional set sold separately. The two joints are different lengths and can be installed in either way. The hole position can also be freely selected.

It seems that you can attach a shooting weapon called the Barbatos smoothbore cannon from Option Set 1 like this.

By replacing the left arm and removing the shoulder armor, the first form seen in the PV can also be recreated.

Replacement left arm. The armor-like part on the side is called a gauntlet and is originally light blue in color.

Exposed shoulders. The dimples make it look a bit odd.

This time, unusually for HG, the armor is attached to the frame, so it can be displayed even with the left arm, left leg, head, and torso parts removed.

The size is a standard 1/144 scale.

Just a few at a time.

The mace looks big, but it’s not particularly heavy, so you can hold it in one hand. However, your wrist will get tired.

The shoulder movement is excellent and the handle is long, making it easy to hold with both hands.

The sword is a single color and not as bulky as the mace, so it is rather plain.

However, it seems that the mace is not included in the 1/100 scale model, so it may not be used for a while.

Remove the shoulder armor and replace the left arm to transform into the first form.

In the PV, we see the image of him fighting while flying around nimbly.

Rotate once,

Swinging down. The last one is done automatically, so it might just be a rotation.

Brandishing his mace,

Throwing. Both wrists are for holding only.

When the shoulder armor is removed, the shoulders can be raised almost straight up.

A downward slash. However, since it cannot be pulled forward, it is quite difficult to hold the sword with both arms extended.

This is a review of the HG Gundam Varvatos.
The color separation is quite good, and the proportions are well balanced, making it quite good looking.
The slim design with some of the frame exposed also means that there is little interference, and the movement is good, so I think the movement is sufficient to fulfill the image from the PV as an MS that fights mainly in close combat on the ground.
Since this is the first HG, it seems that various MS will be released at a very fast pace and at an inexpensive price, so I have high expectations for the future lineup as well as the main story.
